What is a resin bound driveway?
A resin bound driveway is made by mixing natural aggregate — stone, gravel, or recycled glass — with a clear UV-stable polyurethane resin. The mixture is machine-mixed to a precise ratio and trowelled onto a prepared macadam base to create a smooth, seamless surface. Once cured, the aggregate particles are fully bound within the resin matrix, which makes the surface porous throughout its depth. Water passes directly through the surface and drains away below.
This is the defining characteristic of resin bound compared to other resin surfaces: the permeability is inherent to the material, not achieved through drainage channels or gaps at the perimeter.
